In 1981 BW Provisions opened to better serve its small chain of restaurants, The Bread Winners. The Bread Winner chain was finding it more and more difficult to purchase the name brand products to which they were accustomed.

The distribution companies at the time were busy converting known nam
e brand products into their private labels, and claiming the product was just as good, if not better, and at a savings. Nothing was further from the truth.

As BW started purchasing the products they desired and distributing to themselves, other restaurants were finding it just as hard to acquire the products they too were accustomed. As BW grew larger in distribution it soon sold the restaurant portion of the business and focused on distributing fine food products to the trade only.

In 1999 BW Provisions agreed to merge with Metropolitan to help create a national presence in food distribution.

A few years ago food distribution for name brands was again starting to disappear as well as the smaller specialty distributors. The large distributors were not only eliminating name brands, they were also purchasing all the small to midsized food distributors as well. This again created an opportunity.

Thus in 2010 we opened BW Specialties, a small food distributor focusing on the needs of restaurants, delis, and grocery markets. We still believe strongly in name brands, as well as our customers, and the quality they bring to the table.

BW Specialties is owned and operated by Matt Cook. In just a few short years BW has once again become a name the customer can trust and depend on, and in 2013, Giancola Brothers became a part of BW increasing our line of quality products and service.
